Simplicity is “At Our Core”—A Spotlight on One of Our Core Values

BARR Advisory’s core values set the foundation for everything we do. They’re at the forefront as we forge new partnerships, hire new associates, create new service lines, and more. That’s why we’ve put together “At Our Core”—a blog series that takes a deeper dive into each of BARR’s core values so you can see them in action. We’ve already explored “unparalleled support,” “transparency,” and “inclusivity.” Today’s focus is on our core value “simplicity.”

We understand the power of simplicity and focus on what is essential in all we do. In fact, we place so much emphasis on simplicity, it’s part of our mission: “To simplify the path to security and compliance for a more secure world.”

“I love all of our core values, but find myself drawn to simplicity a lot more nowadays,” said Daniel Flores Herrera, senior consultant, cyber risk advisory. “I ask myself constantly, ‘Does this add value?’ If not, it’s not needed.”

Hannah Kenney, manager, cyber risk advisory, admits that, if she had to pick one, simplicity is her favorite of the core values. “My brain is always thinking about ways to simplify our processes,” she said. “I once read a book that explained, ‘If you’re trying to figure out how to make a space shuttle more efficient, build a lighter rocket before you add more fuel,’ which really resonates with me.”

In the world of cybersecurity, things can become complex quickly. When there’s confusion, BARR associates strive for clarity. When there’s doubt, we bring decisiveness.

Even our newer associates embrace simplicity. “As a newbie, I would have to say simplicity is one of the core values I am drawn to most,” said Kyle Cohlmia, associate content writer. “For me, creating simplicity through messaging and in the workplace is both refreshing and powerful.”

It’s important to note our core values are one of the first things we talk about during associate interviews and onboarding programs.
