BARR Advisory Wins STEMMy Corporate HERO Award for Support of Women in STEMM

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — BARR Advisory has been named the recipient of the 2023 STEMMy Corporate HERO Award for its support and advocacy for women in STEMM.

The cloud-based cybersecurity and compliance solutions firm was honored by Central Exchange on Thursday for its active role in building up women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine in the greater Kansas City area through education, growth opportunities, flexibility, and camaraderie.

According to Central Exchange, women make up just 27% of the STEMM workforce, but at BARR, women are heavily represented at all levels. More than half of all BARR team members are women, including 56% of the firm’s management team and 50% of its leadership team. Through the BARR Belong Foundation, BARR is also engaged in charitable activities to support women and their families in Kansas City and around the world.

The recognition comes just months after the cybersecurity and compliance firm was named one of the top 10 fastest-growing businesses in Kansas City by Ingram’s magazine. BARR’s inclusion on Ingram’s elite list for the second year in a row capped off a period of rapid expansion for the firm, which saw growth of more than 529% from 2019 to 2022.
