Brad Thies, BARR Advisory founder and president, recently sat down with Armistead Whitney, CEO of Apptega, to discuss a variety of topics ranging from what differentiates BARR as a company to common challenges its team finds when auditing clients to today’s cybersecurity threat landscape and more.
The discussion was part of an “Innovator Spotlight” series for CyberXchange—Apptega’s B2B e-commerce cybersecurity marketplace.
Thies described BARR’s service lines—attestation and CISO advisory services—along with what drives it all.
“It all starts with our mission to build a more secure world, both from a compliance and security perspective,” said Thies. “How we do that is by focusing on niche clients, whether it’s cloud service providers or startups.”
The two cybersecurity leaders also hit on the uniqueness of working with startups.
“A lot of times they’re really building these [data security] programs as they’re building their product,” said Thies.
Whitney mentioned he thinks BARR is in a growth industry.
“With the emergency of COVID, it’s pushing a lot of things to the cloud,” said Whitney. “A lot more apps and a lot more data is being shared, so security is even more critical.”
