Meet BARR Advisory intern: Drew Havens. Havens is an Overland Park, Kansas, native and an incoming senior at the University of Kansas where he is studying accounting with a concentration in information systems/technology.
To me, it’s a big, never-ending puzzle. In a world where new technology is introduced nearly every day, there are countless cybersecurity issues that can arise. Every industry has its own concerns. I love that a career in cybersecurity can lead to a multitude of different companies, industries and, of course, challenges.
I’m excited to gain exposure to how cybersecurity controls work in the real world, especially how they are audited. I’m eager to see real examples and how they are applied in different companies.
My ability to problem solve and learn quickly, especially in the cybersecurity world where there is new information coming at you daily. I’m able to adapt and learn on the go.
Coffee in the morning, and my love for movies is what keeps me up way later than I should be.
Take a nap or go meet up with friends at a happy hour.
“Whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right.”
“Prior planning prevents poor performance.”
Fishing or any sport I can play outside. I’m in a softball league every summer with my friends, which is always a great time. I also like volleyball even though I’m not the best at it – being 6’3” helps a lot!
Colorado, specifically around Bear Lake near Estes Park. The combination of the still water with the mountains in the background was a breathtaking experience.
The rolls from Texas Roadhouse covered in as much of their honey butter as possible.
I have a seven-year-old Golden Retriever named Lainey who still acts like she’s two.
Welcome to the team, Drew!
