BARR Advisory officially welcomed Kenneth Daniels, Senior Consultant, Cyber Risk Advisory, to the team in March 2020. In just three short months, Daniels has already created a name for himself among his colleagues and clients because of his work ethic and the support he’s offered through various reports thus far.
Daniels began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) working extensively in risk assurance with large banking and consumer goods companies nationwide. From there, he moved on to Raymond James, a financial services firm based in Tampa, Florida.
“At Raymond James, I had the opportunity to facilitate and support the firm’s SOC audits through the work of internal auditing,” said Daniels. “This SOC audit experience and leadership tenure brought me to A-LIGN where I led and executed SOC audits for IT startups across the country.”
This path led the Orlando-based consultant to BARR.
“I came to BARR because it felt like more than a compliance firm,” he said. “I love the unique approach to the compliance journey, and was drawn to join its team of truly knowledgeable and talented professionals.”
Daniels also finds the cloud security industry compelling.
“It seems like it is really evolving, expanding, and changing at a rapid rate, which I find exciting,” he said.
As far as what he considers his top career accomplishment thus far, Daniels was quick to answer.
“It has been my participation in establishing the PwC diversity and inclusion council,” he said. “I am proud of this experience because it allowed me to acquire immense amounts of knowledge about our differences as humans and the overwhelming benefits realized when a company promotes and fosters diversity and inclusion in the workplace.”
Through this opportunity, Daniels discovered a deeper desire to serve as an advocate for diversity, predominantly for LGBT youth.
“My initial push for the diversity and inclusion initiative was to allow people to feel comfortable to share and speak freely via an outlet to create, celebrate, educate, and showcase our differences.”
Outside of work, Daniels loves to hike and chow down on his favorite food group: carbs.
“I love the clarity and peace that comes with hiking at high altitudes,” he said. “But I balance that with a healthy dose of carbs—something that comes from being raised in an Italian family that believes bread, pasta, and people are the staples of a great meal.”
But perhaps his favorite thing to do is spend time with his seven-year-old Boston Terrier named Hadley.
“She’s the world’s best pup,” he said. “When I return home from a work trip, the first thing I do is pick her up and spend time playing with her toys, going on walks, playing frisbee, and, of course, tons of cuddling.”
