BARR Advisory Welcomes New Associate Consultant Emma Ostrowski

BARR Advisory is thrilled to officially welcome Emma Ostrowski to the team as associate consultant. In this role, she will lead SOC examinations and assist clients in developing their cybersecurity strategy, navigating complex compliance issues, identifying risks, and finding security solutions.  

Get to know Ostrowski through this quick Q&A:

Q: What are you most excited about in terms of your new position at BARR? 

A: As a recent college graduate, I am most excited to learn and grow as a professional at BARR. I look forward to working with clients and supporting the team as an associate. 

Q: With a few weeks under your belt already, what have you noticed about BARR that seems different? 

A: The BARR team truly goes above and beyond to provide unparalleled support to clients. Clients can always expect excellent communication and service with a smile.

Q: What excites you about the future of the cybersecurity industry?

A: The astronomical levels of growth and opportunity that exist within this industry! Cybersecurity is becoming more and more essential for businesses to survive as the days go by, and with that comes new job opportunities that may not have existed just a few years ago. I am also excited to see the landscape of the tech industry become more diverse and inclusive, especially for women. 

Q: What technology innovation has made the most impact on your life?

A: Without a doubt I would be nowhere as a traveler if I didn’t have GPS on my smartphone. I love using Waze for long distance trips and alerts about what to expect on the road. When traveling internationally, I find it helpful to download city maps in Google Maps to use offline without WiFi or cell phone reception. Just the other day someone used a paper map to show me where to go and it really made me appreciate how wonderful GPS is!

Q: Favorite outdoor activity? 

A: Watching the sunset and taking scenic drives. I have been especially enjoying watching the leaves change color this time of year!

Q: One of our favorite questions here at BARR—Do you have any pets?

A: My roommate has a tiny little cat named Storm! She is one year old but still looks (and acts) like a kitten. Lately, her favorite activities have been hiding behind my laptop while I work and people-watching out the window.

Q: And last, but certainly NOT least, favorite food?

A: I am a sucker for sushi and french fries…but probably not at the same time!
